Hoka heard the concerns about the Women's Hoka Speedgoat 5 and they responded with more a durable upper, more space in the toe box and firmer and more responsive midsole.

What's new about the Women's Hoka Speedgoat 6?

Compared to previous models most trail runners will notice that the initial instep feel is significantly firmer than the previous model. The firmer midsole has a break in period of about 20 miles but allows the trail runner to be more durable and responsive over the long haul.

The midsole compound is still Compressed Molded EVA but the reengineered production process has created a more firm and durable product. The midsole is not only more firm but the stack height is also higher than the previous model. The Women's Hoka Speedgoat 6 is 38mm in the heel and 33 in the forefoot compared to the 29mm heel and 25mm forefoot of the Speedgoat 5.

Understandably the increased stack height might be a concern for those who need a stable ride on variable terrain. The good news is Hoka added a significantly more secure heel cup and a noticeably larger outsole surface area for the foot-strike and toe off.

For trail runners that want a bit more space in the toe box the wait is over. The lacing system now begins 1 cm towards to mid-foot preventing your pinkie and big toe from being squeezed. The lacing is very similar to the Women's Tecton X 2.

Lastly, the upper remains breathable but for those that wanted a more durable/rip resistant upper for those long days in the mountains look no further. Many Women's Mafate Speed 4 runners will find the Women's Hoka Speedgoat 6 upper to have a similar protective quality in nasty terrain.
